Duane Schuler
Duane Schuler’s work encompasses opera, ballet and theatre. He has designed more than 200 productions for the Lyric Opera of Chicago and 30 productions for New York’s Metropolitan Opera. His lighting designs have also been seen at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro alla Scala, Milan, Dutch National Opera, Salzburg Festival, Paris Opera, Glyndebourne Opera, San Francisco Opera, Houston Opera, Los Angeles Opera, among others. His ballet credits include Swan Lake, Of Love and Rage, The Snow Maiden (American Ballet Theatre), The Sleeping Beauty (Stuttgart Ballet), Giselle (Berlin State Ballet) and The Nutcracker (Houston Ballet). Most recently, he created lighting designs for The Marriage of Figaro (Santa Fe Opera), Cendrillon (Opera Australia) and La Bohème (Lyric Opera of Chicago). Duane Schuler is also a founding partner of Schuler Shook, a lighting design, theatre planning and audio-video design firm.
