Lukas Schmidt

The tenor Lukas Schmidt was born in Gelnhausen. His singing talent was discovered in the course of his school music studies at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main. From 2018 he studied there in the class of Thomas Heyer. Lukas Schmidt is currently a guest at Oper Frankfurt as Sergio in Christof Loy's production of Giordano's Fedora and as Conte d'Almaviva in a children's version of Il barbiere di Siviglia. In 2019 he has already been heard as Don Ramiro in Rossini's La cenerentola at the Burgefestspiele Bad Vilbel. He also appears regularly as a concert soloist. In addition to oratorios by Bach, Mozart and Haydn, he has also sung works by Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Dvořák and Schumann. Lukas Schmidt received the Gutenberg Singing Scholarship of the Collegium Musicum of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and became a member of the Young Artist Program of the Vienna State Opera in the 2022/23 season. He has been a member of the Vienna State Opera ensemble since September 2024.
