Matheus França

The Brazilian bass Matheus França completed his studies in orchestral and choral conducting at the University of Brasília, where he also deepened his training in classical singing.

He had his first encounter with the world of opera in university productions such as La serva padrona and Il barbiere di Siviglia. During this time, he also dedicated himself to concert repertoire, appearing in performances of works such as Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de Confessore, Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, and the Requiem settings of Mozart and Verdi.

His professional career began in 2014 when he joined the choir of the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo. Shortly thereafter, he made his first solo appearances. His debuts as Zaccaria (Nabucco) and Nourabad (Les pêcheurs de perles) brought him international recognition.

He made his European debut as Padre Guardiano (La forza del destino). Since then, he has also been heard in roles such as Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Hunding (Die Walküre), King René (Iolanta), Fafner (Der Ring des Nibelungen), Zaccaria, Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia), and the Grand Inquisitor (Don Carlo).
